Misreporting in Mass Media |
Misreporting in Mass MediaThe Tactic of Misreporting in Mass Media occurs when various forms of large-scale communication are used propagate a lie. Examples of the Tactic of Misreporting in Mass MediaA.P. reporter claims that George W. Bush thought it was funny when Bill Clinton had a health issue, when, in fact, George Bush stopped the rally that he was leading and led the people in prayer for Bill Clinton. When the reporter told the lie, news agencies around the world propagated the story without checking it. Retractions were hard to find. https://creation.com/slaughter-of-the-dissidents Time magazine has not covered the creation/evolution issue very well over the years, including some perpetual misreporting (as well as a strong bias against those who question evolution). For example, for more than six years, Time has been incorrectly reporting that in 1999, the Board of Education in the state of Kansas supposedly eliminated evolution from its science curriculum. Obviously, Time reporters (and its columnist Charles Krauthammer) did not read the approved 1999 standards. “Biological evolution,” for example, was expected to be known by students in grades 9-12 (p. 79 of the standards), and there were other references to evolution (for example, students were expected to know evolution as it relates to topics such as adaptation, natural selection, genetic drift, and mutations). https://creation.com/time-to-consider-other-persons-of-the-year A "Science Daily" article says, “From one cell to many: How did multicellularity evolve?” https://crev.info/2014/02/just-say-no-to-evolutionary-speculation/#sthash.AKeE8iMQ.dpuf What has happened here is that the options have been narrowed down to only what could conform to the Big-Bang-Billions-of-Years-No-Flood-Molecules-to-Man story. This artificial filter results in false reporting. The Creation-Flood account is eliminated without evidence.
