1 Samuel

The revelation that God has given to the apostles, the testimony of the Holy Spirit through Scripture itself, the testimony of the Holy Spirit in the heart of every follower of Christ, rational (sane) thought, scientific method, and any other measure other than the creative rationalizations (insane stories) of the skeptics, all confirm the historical, material, and spiritual accuracy of every part of Scripture from the very beginning of Genesis to the very end of Revelation.

Samuel, a judge of Israel.   God brought a new judge who would judge righteously and by the mind of God.

1. Elkanah--Hanna praying that she would bare a child; her promise to God--Hanna bares Samuel

2. Eli, the judge--Hanna prays prophetically--the sinfulness of Eli's sons--the young Samuel--Eli commands his sons to stop sinning, but they wouldn't listen--Eli's prophecy

3. Samuel, the judge--God begins to speak to Samuel--Samuel receives revelation of God's judgment against the house of Eli--all Israel recognizes the authority that God has put on Samuel

4. God strengthens the Philistines to defeat the Israelites--Eli and his sons die in one day

5. Philistines capture the Ark of the Covenant, bringing God's judgment against them with tumors

6. the Philistines decide to send the ark back along with a guilt offering after 50,070 men died

7. Israel gets the ark back--Israel returns fo serve the true God--Philistines attack and are defeated--Samuel's ministry

8. God had ruled over Israel, but Israel rejects God's rule and want a king so they can be more like other countries--God warns of the problems with a king but instructs Samuel to let them have their king

9. God chooses Saul as the reluctant king

10. Saul anointed king and prophesies among the prophets

11. Saul defeats the Ammonites and the people exalt him

12. Samuel summarizes what Israel has done in the light of what God has done--Samuel confirms King Saul

13. God gives Saul victory over the Philistines--Saul usurps the office of the prophet and the prophet, Samuel pronounces Saul's judgment (his kingdom will not endure)--Israel comes to time where no spear or sword could be found in Israel nor anyone who could make a weapon

14. Jonathon and his armor-bearer victoriously fight the Philistines alone--Saul suddenly decides to join the battle since victory is obvious and also pronounces a very foolish judgment that anyone who eats will be killed (a type of those who refuse to allow the Holy Spirit to flow)--the men are so hungry they sin by eating flesh with blood--Jonathon doesn't know about Saul's command and eats honey (a type of the Holy Spirit)--warfare

15. Saul fails to completely obey God's command and Samuel, tells Saul's sin (pride)--Saul's excuse: peer pressure--pronounces Saul's judgment (his kingdom will be torn from him)--Saul begs Samuel to honor him in front of the people in spite of his fall

16. Samuel anoints David king--the Holy Spirit left Saul and and evil spirit entered him--David brought to play the harp so the evil spirit would leave for a time

17. David and Goliath

18. Jonathan and David--Saul's attempts to kill David--Saul gets David to fight the Philistines--Saul marries Saul's daughter--Saul hates and fears David more

19. Saul sends men to kill David, but God protects David--Saul tries to kill David with a spear--Saul sends messengers to try to kill David--Saul tries to kill David at Samuel's house

20. Saul commands Jonathon to bring David so Saul can kill David--David and Jonathan make a covenant--Saul's anger against Jonathan--Jonathan warns David and David flees

21. David protected by priests, who supply a sword--David fears King Achish and pretends to be insane so that the King won't kill him

22. David flees to Adullam--Saul kills the priests for helping David

23. David defeats the enemy (the Philistines)--Saul chasing David

24. David spares Saul's life in the cave because he is anointed by God

25. Samuel dies--Nabal, the fool--Abigail intercedes for Nabal--Nabal dies suddenly--David marries Abigail

26. David again spares Saul's life--Saul admits his sin

27. David joins the enemy but secretly wipes out an entire region of the enemy

28. Achish, of the enemy, reluctantly makes David his body guard--Saul, greatly distressed and separated from God, goes to a woman medium to conjure up Samuel who has died (another sin)--Samuel tells Saul that he is being punished for his sin and that he and his sons will die the next day

29. mistrust of David keeps the enemy from using David to fight Saul

30. David defeats the enemy in another area after inquiring of the Lord

31. Saul and his sons are killed by the enemy in battle
