Answer:
When God tells the consequences of sin (sin which anti-God and anti-Bible people love), it would be a lie to imply that this reflects poorly on God. Instead, it should be a warning to the person who attacks the Bible. Isaiah 13:16, Hosea 13:16, Psalm 137:9 in no way says that God is endorsing child abuse or killing of babies. Abortion advocates approve and promote the killing of Babies, but God does not. Sin has consequences. These are prophecies about reality. They are prophecies that tell what is going to happen because people rebelled against their God. God gets no joy out of the judgment of the wicked, but He is a righteous God and He does judge. Perhaps that is really what upsets the commenter. Perhaps the commenter is also in rebellion against his or her God and is not liking the fact that there will be judgment and the judgment can only be avoided if the commenter will turn from rebellion and submit to God. Read more here: Isaiah 13:16, Hosea 13:16, Psalm 137:9 Sin has consequences. Psalm 137:9 is a terrible prophecy foretelling what will happen to the daughter of Babylon and the fact that those who bash the babies, not an uncommon practice in primitive warfare, will be happy. Barnes Notes on the Bible state: "O daughter of Babylon - That is, Babylon itself; the city of Babylon." In that case, this reference to babies may be figurative. Babylon is, itself, a type of human confusion and the many voices in the world. Many are the warnings of God concerning listening to the lies of the world. When anyone listens to the counsel of the ungodly, "daughters" (speaking figuratively) are born in that person's minds. We could say that strongholds are formed in the mind. The mind is corrupted. God will destroy those strongholds. Come out, come out of her (Babylon) my people that you be not partakers of her sins. One may wonder what kind of warped mind would extract such an insane interpretation from reading the actual text. The answer is that people who do such things are under the power of Satan. The human mind was designed and built to be filled with the flowing water of God's Spirit, the Spirit of Him Who is Love. It doesn't work properly without that Anointing of the Holy Ghost that flows from the Throne of God. Moment by moment, every person should be in that Flow, directed into His Divine Righteousness, and moving in submission to God. Isaiah Chapter 13 13:1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see. 13:2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice to them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. 13:3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness. 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. 13:5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 13:7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 13:8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 13:9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 13:12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 13:14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 13:15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined to them shall fall by the sword. 13:16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. 13:17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 13:18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. 13:19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. 13:20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. 13:21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. 13:22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. Psalm 137:8 O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. 9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. In context, Babylon took Israel captive. God used Babylon for the purpose of judging Israel's sin against God in worshiping false gods, committing adultery, not honoring the Sabbath, not loving God, and many other sins. However, Babylon was to be judged for taking God's people captive. Their motives were not pure. They were an evil nation. And God pronounced what would happen to Babylon. Psalm 137 137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. 137:2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. 137:3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. 137:4 How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land? 137:5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. 137:6 If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. 137:7 Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof. 137:8 O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. 137:9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. Hosea Chapter 13 13:1 When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died. 13:2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves. 13:3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney. 13:4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me. 13:5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought. 13:6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me. 13:7 Therefore I will be to them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them: 13:8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them. 13:9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help. 13:10 I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes? 13:11 I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath. 13:12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid. 13:13 The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children. 13:14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. 13:15 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels. 13:16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
